Local Philanthropy

In addition to raising money and awareness for arthritis and related diseases, our sisters recognize the importance of giving back in many other ways.

Our chapter's local philanthropy is breast cancer awareness. We hold events for and donate to the cause every year. We've sold valentine cards and donated the proceeds, sponsored NAU's breast cancer awareness games, and helped out with informational presentations.

Along with our philanthropies, our sisters participate in other service activities and commit themselves to hours of community service, including street cleanings, campus cleanings, and boxing food at the Flagstaff Family Food Center.

Each year, our sisters are given the opportunity to get hands-on with our international philanthropy and volunteer at Camp Cruz and Camp ILA, two camps held by the Arthritis Foundation for children with arthritis and their families. Camp Cruz is a weeklong summer camp in Arizona that's just for the kids. The camp gets them involved in sports, crafts, music, fishing, horseback riding, and many other fun activities. Camp ILA (Imagine Life without Arthritis) is a weekend camp in the fall for children affected by arthritis and their families. Over the years, we have had many sisters volunteer at both camps, and they have always had an amazing experience.
